Einari Hyvönen (b. 1989) lives and works in Helsinki, Finland. He earned his MFA from the Academy of Fine Arts, Uniarts Helsinki in 2021. He has exhibited nationally as well as in Europe, most recently with Plan X gallery in Milan and with Moosey gallery in London.
His work focuses on universally recognised crisis, from personal tragedies to existential conflicts. Joyous scenes with giddy imagery contradict the underlying gloom. This tragicomic tone produces narratives that bring a sense of ease to the otherwise uncomfortable topics. Nostalgic digital aesthetics counter a manual oil, acrylic and spray paint application which creates a purposely warped and whimsical landscape.
